On Sept. 1, 2004 our youngest son Carter at 5 1/2 months old, received serious injuries and was and left severely disabled.
We spent 44 days in a children's hospital while Carter fought for his life.
When we left that hospital we were told we were bringing home a child who would do nothing. Carter continues to progress in small ways and is becoming more and more responsive to our family.
We had a nurse tell us that if we believed he was doing something that he was and we shouldn't let anyone tell us differently. To this day we strongly believe in those wise words.
In September of 2005 we were introduced to Tender Wishes, an organization that grants wishes to children with life-threatening conditions, at the Last Chance Car Show. Street Machines Unlimited has for many years donated to Tender Wishes and for this we are very thankful.
We spoke to our son Kevin and daughter Kennedy about what they thought would be a good wish for Carter. Kevin asked us to clarify what Tender Wishes did.
We told him that they would grant a wish and we were thinking of asking for a trip to Disney World. He responded that if they could make wishes come true, he would rather have them make his brother better.
In August of 2007 we were visited by Louise Murphy the wish chair of Tender Wishes to see what Carter's wish would be. We asked to go to Disney.
To our amazement we were notified that Carter's wish trip would be in October.
We would like to thank Tender Wishes for providing our family with a Wish Trip to Give Kids the World in Kissimmee, Florida.
For one week we had no doctors appointments, no nurses, no therapy, just fun. We smiled and laughed together more than we had in a very long time.
Words cannot properly express how thankful we are.
You have made us believe that good things can happen and that wishes do come true.
Kevin and Christine Keith
